A pause, not a verdict
A halt pauses prints in a stock until the exchange lifts it. It is not a conclusion about the company.
News halts, volatility pauses, and regulatory pauses are different notices. The reason code is on the exchange notice. If the code is not on that page, it does not belong in the story.
During the pause
Prints stop. What happens to existing orders depends on the venue and the code. This note does not guess which.
The resume is often an auction. The first print after that auction is a new price. A rumor of a resume time is not the notice.
Where it shows up
Halts happen in the premarket and in the cash session. The same rule applies. Read the notice. Then read the print after the resume, if you are comparing prices.
